Summary :
SAP has introduced SAPCAR, the new archiving tool replacing CAR as of R/3 Release 4.6C, changing the archive file extensions from '.CAR' to '.SAR'. Users are advised to always use the latest SAPCAR version compatible with their operating system, available for download at the SAP Service Marketplace. The downloadable files have the .exe extension across all operating systems but require renaming on UNIX platforms. SAPCAR maintains backward compatibility for command-line interface except for certain file extraction and space checking functionalities. Note, SAPCAR cannot create '.CAR' files but can manage and extract from them. Additionally, users may need to install specific C++ runtime libraries on certain platforms to facilitate SAPCAR operations. To learn more about using SAPCAR, enter 'SAPCAR' in the command prompt.
