Summary :
This SAP Note provides guidance on configuring the correct collation setting for MS SQL Server 2000 databases used with SAP systems. It specifies the use of the “SQL_Latin1_General_CP850_BIN2” collation, which corrects sorting issues with Unicode data not addressed by the default collation. For new installations, the database should initially be set to use "Binary order for use with the 850 Multilingual Character Set." Subsequently, users should install SQL Server 2000 SP4 or later, then apply the new collation using InstColl.exe provided by SAP. This executable modifies the collation setting post-installation. Existing non-Unicode SAP systems do not require conversion unless a new Unicode system is to be added.
