Summary :
SAP Note elucidates the storage mechanisms for documents via Generic Object Services and ArchiveLink. In versions as of 4.6C, services such as 'Create attachment', 'Create an external document', and 'Create a note' link attachments to business documents. Attachments are managed as SAPoffice documents with entries in SOOD and SOFM tables, and their contents in SOC3. For PC attachments, prior to the integration of the Knowledge Provider (KPro) in Release 4.6B, data was stored in SOFFCONT1 unless routed to an external storage via KPro, minimizing database load. Configuration of external storage involves SKPR08 and OACT transactions. ArchiveLink allows for direct storage of documents in the Content Repository using document-type-specific settings.
