SAP Note 692112 - PDF conversion: output of CJK languages in Unicode

Component : Druck- und Ausgabeverwaltung - Smart Forms

Solution : https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/692112 (SAP Service marketplace login required)

Summary :
Certain simplified Chinese characters are not displayed in PDFs generated from SAPscript/SmartForms or ABAP lists when using CNSAPWIN on Windows. These characters, such as the one represented by hex code 0x85FB, can display correctly on GUIs and prints but are ignored by Acrobat Reader versions 4, 5, and 6 due to insufficient support for the GB2312 charset. From SAP basis release 7.00 onwards, the PDF converter will shift to Unicode UTF-16 encoding for CJK languages, resolving this. Note: SAPKB62037 contains a known issue causing text disappearance in Unicode systems; use note 715599's package instead. Adobe Reader 6.00+ is required for correct PDF display.

Key words :
display unicode-encoded fonts, unicode utf-16 font encodings, chinese gb2312 character set, unicode utf-16 encoding, represent cjk languages, hex code 0x85fb, adobe reader reason, prerequisites insufficient support, adobe reader version 6, -unicode sap systems
