Summary :
SAP has phased out "old" transactions and BAPIs related to Purchase Orders and Purchase Requisitions (e.g., ME21, ME22, ME23, ME51, ME52, ME53) since SAP R/3 4.6C, replacing them with enhanced Enjoy-transactions and new BAPIs in subsequent releases including SAP R/3 Enterprise Release 4.70 and SAP ERP 2004. The extended maintenance for older software versions ended in March 2013. SAP urges transitioning to the contemporary, recommended transactions (ME21N, ME22N, ME23N, etc.) and BAPIs (e.g., BAPI_PO_CREATE1, BAPI_PR_CREATE) to exploit benefits such as single-screen views, item adoption via mouse-click, easier navigation, and enhanced functionalities like multiple account assignments and new release strategies.
