Summary :
This SAP Note addresses the transportation of ABAP report variants across different SAP R/3 releases. For releases up to 3.1I, transporting R3TR PROG includes all report variants, which are exported from the creation client and imported to the designated client, maintaining older versions in other target system clients. From release 4.0 onwards, system variants (with names starting with SAP& or CUS&) are handled differently, being imported into client 000 regardless of the source. Exceptions exist for problematic system variants specifically configured in client 000. An accompanying issue revolving around VARIS table re-imports is noted, with a provided workaround involving R3trans patches applicable to certain SAP releases. The note also mentions manual interventions required to correctly transport and delete individual variants across all releases.
