Summary :
Due to legal obligations, SAP systems must store payment card numbers in an encrypted state within databases. SAP Note 1032588 provides comprehensive guidance for activation and management of encryption across Sales and Distribution (SD) and customer master data in ERP systems. It details existing enhancements and mechanisms through which both settings can enable encryption or masked display of card numbers. Modifications to the customer master now prevent unencrypted display, except through a new secured process logged by the system. Additionally, retrospective encryption tools and mechanisms for verifying encryption configuration are specified to support compliance and secure storage practices.
