Description The magnetic media driver retrieves payroll results and master data tocreate a file that can be sent to the Inland Revenue for end of yearreporting on magnetic media. The file conforms to the layout specified in the Inland RevenueNational Insurance Contributions Office technical guide CA51/52 (MakingYear End Returns on Tape or Disc). The file is output to a TemSe(temporary sequential) file for subsequent viewing and downloading(RPUTMSG0). On the selection screen, you need to enter your permit number. Thisnumber is issued by the Inland Revenue to identify end of year returnsby magnetic media; the customized entries on tables T5G51 and T5G52allow the permit number to determine which payroll areas are to beselected. You are recommended to check for all error types when you initially runthe magnetic media driver. To enable a comprehensive check, theselection screen contains the default settings Error types 1, 2 and3> (under Check >options>) and Magnetic tape>,which should be changed to Flexible disc> if applicable, (underOutput format>). When the data has been checked and errorscorrected, you can change these settings as appropriate beforererunning the magnetic media driver. For test purposes, you can also run the driver for a particularemployee selection. Further selections> allows you to choose thefull range of employee selection criteria.Precondition The program supports the file layout from tax year 1997/98 onwards.Annual changes are delivered by Legal Change Patch. Output Once the report has completed processing, the results screen isdisplayed. Any severe errors or warnings will be listed, otherwise asuccessful run will display the totals for each permit number on thefile. The total amounts for tax, NI contributions, SSP, SMP andrecovered amounts and ECON are displayed for suitable entry on formP35(MT). Also displayed are the number of employees, employee records andexceptions, error check totals if chosen, and the TemSe file namecreated. Up to four pushbuttons are available as appropriate:
- View file
Executes the TemSe view and download program (RPUTMSG0) for the createdfile; this allows viewing of the file contents.
- List checks
Lists any error checks detected, ordered by type and personnel number(for employee records).
- Employee data
Lists the employees included on the file, with an entry for each periodof employment; from each record, you can go directly to the payrollresults view program.
- Employee exceptions
Any employees that are not included on the file are listed here with adescription of the error (for example, no payroll results); latepayments are also listed but the results are included on the file.
