SAP Program RNUPLZ00 - IS-H: Import Postal Code File of the Post Office

Description
This program imports the postal code file supplied by Deutsche Post AG(the German post office) into the IS-H System.

Precondition
You must specify the pathe and file name of the sequential filecontaining the postal codes.
To ensure that the system only imports the postal codes of the currentversion, enter the delivery date and the version of the postal codefile. For further information about this, refer to the Deutsche Post AGuser manual.
The Country Key field must contain the abbreviation for"Germany", as it is maintained in your system (call Possible Entries
(F4) for this field).
You can restrict the postal code area which is to be imported. To dothis, enter the relevant postal codes that are to be available in yoursystem in the Postal Code field. You can also use this field toimport "packages" of postal codes if your system configuration does notpermit you to import the data all at once.
You must set the Import Packages indicator if you do not importall the postal codes in one processing operation. Note that when youimport packages, this option is activated with the second package. Thisprevents postal codes that were imported in an earlier run from beingdeleted when the first package is imported, with the exception ofmanually changed data records. If you want such data records to bedeleted as well, you have to set the Delete Old Version Completely
indicator for the first run.
You can stipulate whether the catalog is to be imported into your systemwith the complete district list and street directory for Germany (forapprox. 21,000 cities) or only those districts and streets which arenecessary for postal code assignment (for approx. 209 cities withseveral delivery postal codes). Both catalogs are provided by the postoffice. When installing the complete district list and street directory, you should therefore make sure that the complete Deutsche Post AGcatalog is used as the basis.
When importing the geographical areas, you can make the followingdistinctions:

  • Importing the German federal states

  • Importing the administrative districts

  • Importing the areas and cities not belonging to an area

  • Importing the municipality keys

  • Note that the unambiguity of the postal code to geographical arearelationship is lost if you select more than one import type. This meansthat there is always more than one geographical area for one code, andthis could adversely affect the patient admission procedure (the usermust access the list of geographical areas, and choose the correct onefor every address entry).

    Output
The system creates the two IS-H catalogs Postal Codes andGeographical Areas.
