Purpose
You can use this program to:

• change the release, component type and short text of existing software
components

• create software components


• delete software components

Note:
The release ID must have three characters and cannot contain a period.

Why edit software components?
When you release an object for the first time with a transport request,the current software component and release of the object are bothrecorded.
If, for example, a user wants to make a change to a table that willrequire a conversion, a check is made to see if the current softwarecomponent of the table and the release match the data recorded when theobject was first released. If so, the table can be converted, otherwisethe conversion is rejected.

Prerequisites
You need administration authorization in the Change and TransportSystem.
