During the system upgrade, certain jobs, including RADDREXE, fail with a GEN_SELECTION_SCREEN_ERROR visible in SM21 and detailed in SM37 for specific job phases such as RUN_DREXE_40A. The error stems from an inadequately set profile parameter ztta/dynpro_area, common in upgrades to Release 4.0. This is traced back to instance profiles created during initial installations on AS/400 platforms through Release 3.1G, where the default value was subsequently increased. The solution involves removing the ztta/dynpro_fläche parameter from instance profiles, thereby applying the newer default settings, and rebooting the R/3 instance.
