A 3.x DataSource appears as "Active Version: does not exist" in SAP UI despite being active in the source system. This issue occurs because the UI cannot handle direct changes to 3.x DataSource; it requires transfer rules creation when changes are attempted. Displayed as “emulated,” the DataSource cannot be used for transformations or DTPs, leading to errors (RSTRan803, RSDS170). The solution involves emulating the 3.x DataSource via transfer rules and PSA method for activating the emulated version, or migrating it to RSDX to resolve the issue, with the latter method prohibiting the modeling of data flows via traditional transfer rules.
