Summary :
This SAP Note provides guidelines for updating the JDBC driver in Oracle-based J2EE systems. Users needing to localize or update the JDBC driver should differentiate between the driver itself and its references. Since version 10.2.0.4, SAP recommends updating the entire Oracle Instant Client rather than individual JDBC drivers, which are part of the client installations available via SAP Service Marketplace. For J2EE engines version 7.00 and above, only specific driver files (ojdbc14.jar and ojdbc6.jar) are used, excluding older versions using classes12.jar. Localization of driver files should reflect the setup detailed in the system’s configuration, and updating the driver necessitates a system shutdown and backup of old drivers. For specialized applications like XI, re-deployment of JDBC drivers is required, which cannot be performed at the file system level.
