SAP Note 914177 - File system reiserfs Oracle parameter filesystemio_options

Component : Oracle - Database Administration with Oracle

Solution : https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/914177 (SAP Service marketplace login required)

Summary :
SAP Note highlights issues concerning Oracle 10.x installations on Linux with ReiserFS, where processes such as creating SPFILE from PFILE, modifying SPFILE parameters, and collecting Oracle dictionary statistics face errors due to the filesystem configuration. Errors like ORA-27091 and ORA-27072 may occur with the use of INIT.ORA parameter `filesystemio_options = setall` and incorrect mount options for ReiserFS. To resolve, users should either amend the default mount option of ReiserFS to include `-o notail` or adjust the `FILESYSTEMIO_OPTIONS` Oracle parameter to NONE for standard I/O or ASYNCH for improved asynchronous I/O performance.

Key words :
