The issue arises when posting in external accounting with SAP where the system issues message KI280 "Create a cost element for account & in CO area &", although the document is only verified from a CO perspective without CO posting intentions. This occurs due to the Cost Center or Orders components being activated for validations in the controlling area customizing, mandating cost elements' existence during checks. To resolve, adjust the setting to 'Active for existence validations’ or enable automatic creation of cost elements via the IMG pathway: Overhead Cost Controlling -> Cost and Revenue Element Accounting -> Master Data -> Cost Elements.
