SAP Note 871985 - Linux: Integer Overflow if em/address_space_MB > 4092

Component : Linux -

Solution : https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/871985 (SAP Service marketplace login required)

Summary :
When running SAP applications on Linux with 'map' memory implementation, issues arise with Extended Memory allocations when em/address_space_MB exceeds 4092 MB, resulting in less memory allocated than anticipated, and failures to start the SAP kernel at 4096 MB setting. This problem stems from an integer overflow on Linux 64-bit platforms. SAP has resolved this issue with Kernel patches (46D: 2117, 640: 89, and 700: 21), now supporting larger em/address_space_MB values. Adjustments to the Extended Memory Quota per user (ztta/roll_extension) may be required to optimize performance.

Key words :
sap extended memory window em/address_space_mb, sap extended memory quota, mapped memory implementation activated, sap kernel patch numbers, running sap applications, es/implementation = map, calculating em/address_space_mb, linux 64 bit platforms, increasing em/address_space_mb, extended memory
