SAP Note 784391 - SAP support terms and 3rd-party Linux kernel drivers

Component : Linux -

Solution : https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/784391 (SAP Service marketplace login required)

Summary :
SAP Note highlights issues arising from running SAP systems on Linux servers, especially where third-party drivers or kernel modules are employed. The main guidance includes: avoiding proprietary Linux kernel modules/drivers; not modifying or recompiling Linux kernels; and using Linux distributions tested and supported by SAP. Unsupported scenarios include recompilation of Linux kernels and loading unsupported or proprietary kernel modules. SAP advises consultation with the SAP LinuxLab and using only SAP-tested kernels from supported distributors. Special provisions apply to servers running databases separately from SAP systems, where binary-only drivers might be acceptable if supported by the distributor.
