SAP Note 75233 - Search f. orders by short text; upper/lowercase letters

Component : Master Data -

Solution : https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/75233 (SAP Service marketplace login required)

Summary :
In the SAP R/3 system, when using F4 Help for selecting orders based on the "short text," the search function is case-sensitive. This can cause issues as different casings in short texts lead to incomplete search results. This limitation stems from the case-sensitive nature of database searches, which cannot simultaneously save data case-sensitively and search in a non-case-sensitive manner without significant performance drawbacks. A possible solution is to standardize short texts to uppercase in the AUFK table and consider additional indexing. Another approach is altering the data element of the KTEXT field to avoid the lowercase letters flag.

Key words :
uppercase letters run report rdotxt2u, additional key words ko01, considerable extra memory requirements, search exclusively case-sensitive, save data case-sensitive, existing database entries, overhead cost orders, field ktext requires, field aufk-ktext, prerequisites short text
