Summary :
In SAP ALE customizing, enabling change pointer generation for BOMMAT message can lead to redundant pointers due to non-distribution-relevant BOM changes such as those in equipment or functional locations. Systems are generating needless data with every BOM modification for all activated message types in transaction BD50 due to the function module CHANGE_POINTERS_CREATE limited to document object STUE_V. SAP Note 420562 offers modification to tackle this issue. For pre-4.7 releases, one must manually delete these pointers using report Z_CORRUPT_CHG_POINTERS_DEL. From Release 4.70 onwards, BadI implementation through SE19 allows for the filtration of these pointers pre-database saving, enhancing data accuracy and system performance.
