SAP Note 6588 - R3trans: Memory allocation failed

Component : Transport Tools -

Solution : https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/6588 (SAP Service marketplace login required)

Summary :
R3trans terminates with error 1AETW019 due to memory bottlenecks in the system. This occurs when a MALLOC operation fails, indicating insufficient main memory or swap space. Solutions include reducing system load, increasing swap space, and checking user-specific memory limits. If persistent, a larger computer may be required. Memory requirements for R3trans depend on existing table entries, impacting client imports significantly. To resolve, exclude affected tables from import, restart, and import them separately. Ensure "tablecachesize" is configured appropriately. For upgrades, use the correct R3trans version to avoid memory issues. Versions 6.10 and above address the problem with memory management during table transport.

Key words :
cd /usr/sap/trans/tmpcreate, sap service marketplace software center, /usr/sap/put/exe, update e071 set lockflag = '2', unfavorably implemented memory management, string fields inbasis release 6, r3trans control file exp, r3trans control file imp, main memory/swap space, main memory usage automatically
