In SAP environments addressing purchase orders, setting mandatory fields for foreign trade data (field control = 3) induces issues in ME21N, ME22N, and ME23N transactions. Configuring fields in the incompleteness schema as required restricts navigating away from the 'Import' tab unless all fields are completed, whereas not accessing the tab allows saving with incomplete data. The solution is to adjust the incompleteness schema by setting fields to check for incompletion (field control = 2) and triggering message 06698 if data is incomplete. Changes are made in OLME transaction under ‘Foreign Trade/Customs’.
