During source determination in SAP, contracts valid at the delivery date but not current date are overlooked due to system design. Relevant SAP terms include ME56 and scheduling agreements. This is inherent system behavior for upward compatibility. A workaround involves implementing a correction that allows contract validation against the delivery date using the BAdI ME_DEFINE_CONTRACT_DATE. This is available from SAP ERP 6.04 onwards, with necessary objects provided in support packages for versions 6.04 and 6.05.
