Summary :
When saving a serial number in SAP using transactions IQ02 or IE02, error messages CX723 or CUIB1004 may be triggered due to incorrect system behavior that attempts to change the owner of a referenced configuration in the equipment master record. This issue, relevant from Releases 3.1I to 4.6C, can be resolved by implementing an advance correction available via Support Package or manual implementation. Post-correction, the serial number should save without error. For unresolved issues or inconsistencies, contact SAP Development Support. Reference SAP Note 216929 for pre-existing database inconsistencies.
