When using Transaction AL11 in SAP to view files, users may experience a system crash with the error OPEN_DATASET_NO_AUTHORITY due to missing pre-verification of file access permissions. The error happens because the OPEN DATASET command does not generate a return code, leading directly to a short dump. The issue has been resolved by updating the source code to include an authorization check before opening a file. Users will now receive an error message if they lack the necessary permissions. Updated source code patches are available in R/3 Support Packages for versions 4.6B, 4.6C, and 4.6D.
