Summary :
Following a design modification introduced in Windows 2000/Windows 2003 SP01, users are encountering an error (errno: 52) indicating a duplicate name on the network when trying to access UNC paths (\\hostname\\share) using an alias host name such as SAPTRANSHOST. This issue restricts access to the central transport directory via the alias. To mitigate this, modification of server service parameters within the Windows registry is necessary for both Windows 2000 and Windows Server 2003 operating systems. Instructions include adding alias host names under LanManServer parameters and, for Windows 2003 SP01, adjusting the Lsa settings to include BackConnectionHostNames.
