SAP Note 322653 - DB6: Two or several systems on a host

Component : DB2 Universal Database for Unix / NT - BW DB2 Universal Database

Solution : https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/322653 (SAP Service marketplace login required)

Summary :
Installing multiple SAP systems on a single host is supported with specific considerations for DB2 environments. For Windows, only one version of DB2 UDB can be installed up to version 8, requiring simultaneous software upgrades across all systems on the host. For UNIX, multiple DB2 versions can exist concurrently, though a FixPak affects all instances on the same version. From DB2 version 9 onwards, multiple copies of DB2 are permissible, allowing individual instance upgrades. Notably, user administration via operating system authentication could pose security risks in shared-user environments. For installations using DB2 UDB Version 7, manual steps are necessary for certain products due to installation tool limitations, which are mitigated in DB2 Version 8.
