SAP Note 2241598 - Changed UPDATE FROM syntax can cause ‘invalid table name’ error

Component : SAP HANA Database -

Solution : https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/2241598 (SAP Service marketplace login required)

Summary :
SAP Note addresses the behavior changes in UPDATE FROM syntax in HANA. Initially, pre-HANA Revision82 treated update target table and its alias as different entities, allowing irregular results in specific SQL queries. Post-Revision82 to before HANA SPS11, a regression was noted where they were considered the same, creating erroneous outcomes. Since SPS11 and Revision 102.03, new requirements mandate explicit inclusion of the update target name in the FROM clause to avoid 'invalid table name' errors. Workaround involves reverting to old behavior via configuration settings if necessary. Adjustments to SQL scripts may be required to comply with current syntax expectations.
