Summary :
Restrictions in modifying material master data, such as unit of measure changes, are imposed due to the presence of these materials in BOMs, potentially as inactive ('Dead') items. These inconsistencies arise when BOM items are not fully deleted from databases, only marked logically, leading to discrepancies across BOM-related tables like STPO and STAS. SAP has developed reports (ZZITMTC4, ZZITMTD4, ZZITMTD5, ZZITMTDOC) to manage these issues, offering capabilities to identify and optionally remove these inconsistencies, thereby maintaining data integrity and operational efficiency in material management. Caution is advised as certain reports delete BOM history in update mode.
