Summary :
Transparent HugePages (THP) on Linux can lead to node reboots and performance issues when used with Oracle Database or Oracle RAC. SAP advises using standard HugePages instead. Until the problem is resolved, Oracle strongly recommends disabling THP on all Oracle database servers. This is not applicable to Oracle Engineered Systems such as Exadata and Database Appliance. For Linux distributions with enabled THP, the recommended workaround is disabling THP. Standard HugePages should be preallocated, whereas THP are dynamic. Specific commands and configuration adjustments are provided for THP management and disabling. Reference to SAP Notes 1672954 and 1567511 are made for related configurations and additional guidance.
