SAP Note 181030 - Table CKMI1 too large: Lack of memory and performance loss

Component : Actual Costing/Material Ledger - Inventory Management

Solution : https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/181030 (SAP Service marketplace login required)

Summary :
To address the substantial size of the CKMI1 table resulting from numerous material postings, leading to memory constraints and performance degradation, SAP recommends two primary solutions. Firstly, disable table update via modification for temporary relief. Secondly, employ archiving solutions utilizing CKMARCHIDX transaction or ADK (archiving object CO_ML_IDX) to manage entries from older periods, which can potentially be reloaded into CKMI1 if necessary. However, archiving actions must be carefully managed to prevent performance inconsistencies during FI document summarization at the material level. Users should consult CO-PC or MM-IM Development Support for specific case evaluation.
