Summary :
This SAP Note addresses a hanging tnslsnr process issue when SAP applications attempt to connect or reconnect to Oracle Database versions 11.2.0.2 and 11.2.0.3. A key symptom is an inability to use "sqlplus / as sysdba", with Oracle logs showing ORA-3136 warnings. The problem originates from previous SAP Bundle Patches which manipulate the Oracle binary's linking options relating to the USLA heap. Solutions include applying an Oracle patch that supports a new linking flag, shrsymtab, if the AIX system supports it. Users without the new linker support should refrain from using online patching with the shrsymtab option. Patch installations should verify AIX versions for compatibility. APAR IV20880 is referenced for related system crash issues.
