Summary :
This SAP Note addresses the loading and customization of characteristic names in SAP BW. For character values, only specific characters defined under "" including alphanumeric and certain symbols are accepted by default. Special national characters however, require manual enabling via BW Customizing under Tools > Business Engineer. For BW Release 3.0 A and higher, the system permits the definition of characteristics including lowercase letters. Certain values, notably those beginning with '!' or composed solely of '#', are prohibited due to functionality interference. The feature to include capitals-only character strings for characteristic values enhances compatibility, notably with non-Latin scripts, as of BW 1.2B Patch 12.
