SAP Note 1703435 - Creating a copy of a running instance using snapshots

Component : SAP HANA Backup & Recovery -

Solution : https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1703435 (SAP Service marketplace login required)

Summary :
To duplicate a running SAP HANA database, use the "backup data create snapshot" command to make a database snapshot, ensuring the source database is active with a BACKUP ADMIN user. System landscapes must be compatible. The snapshot facilitates direct data area transfer and should be removed post-duplication using "backup data drop HFNA" command. Activation in the target environment requires "hdbnsutil -useSnapshot" and "hdbnsutil -convertTopology". Note, manage licenses appropriately if a permanent license is active in the source. Complete with a data backup in the target for recovery ability.
