SAP Note 167229 - Memory too small for screen load

Component : UI services, screen, batch input -

Solution : https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/167229 (SAP Service marketplace login required)

Summary :
When SAP GUI screen loads result in terminations or errors such as "Output buffer too small," affected elements may include system logs or shortages in allocated memory for screen loads depicted in status lines. Errors may reference specific system constraints like the BZ8 buffer capacity in bytes, or warnings such as "Error loading screen: No end label". For screen issues like DYNPRO_SYNTAX_ERROR, always verify screen codes via SE51 for syntax errors. Setup issues generally stem from misconfigured ztta/dynpro_area parameters resulting in insufficient memory. Suitable buffer settings per kernel version should control these memory allocations, as specified from kernel 3.1I to 803. The solution emphasizes verifying and potentially increasing the ztta/dynpro_area parameter by 20% increments, especially if default presets are inadequate, keeping in mind the reserved 1 KB within the buffer for administrative data.

Key words :
database interface displays error number 16, short dump dynpro_read_failed occurs, abap short dump dynpro_syntax_error, kernel patch level 46d 353, profile parameter ztta/dynpro_area, bz8 output buffer, terms ztta/dynpro_area, large table control, 64 kb - upper limit, fixed upper limit
