Summary :
This SAP Note addresses the preservation of the set-user-ID bit on sapuxuserchk during SUM tasks on UNIX systems to ensure proper authentication for sapcontrol calls. During update/upgrade processes using SUM, precautions must be taken to prevent overwriting the sapuxuserchk's set-user-ID bit in instance executable directories, risking authentication failure and instance startup issues. The resolution involves the application of a script, fixkernellst.sh, provided in the FIXKERNELLST.SAR file, to modify the *.lst files and ensure sapuxuserchk’s correct configuration before downtime in both ABAP, dual-stack, and Java systems, accommodating various system architectures and configurations.
