SAP Note 1635605 - CLIENT HANGS ON INSERT INTO TABLE WITH SECUREFILE LOB

Component : Oracle -

Solution : https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1635605 (SAP Service marketplace login required)

Summary :
Oracle client programs such as SAP disp+work.exe or R3trans.exe may experience freezing issues during insert operations into tables with SecureFile LOB columns when the Oracle server is on MS Windows. This issue, referenced under Oracle bug #13017584, generally occurs when: both Oracle client and server are on version 11.2.0.1 or 11.2.0.2, the client is inserting into a SecureFile LOB column and encounters an ORA-1 error, triggering a protocol error. Resolutions include Oracle patches detailed in SAP Bundle Patches after specific dates or disabling a specific Oracle initialization parameter to avoid this hang. Tables with BasicFile LOB or LONG columns remain unaffected.
