SAP Note 1614788 - Buffering of large hierarchies in BW reporting

Component : Using Hierarchies -

Solution : https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1614788 (SAP Service marketplace login required)

Summary :
SAP Note addresses issues with large hierarchies in BW reporting that exhaust buffer memory, leading to errors or dumps like EXPORT_BUFFER_NO_MEMORY. The default handling involves buffering all hierarchies in shared buffers, which can be inadequate for ones exceeding 100,000 nodes. To remedy, increase the rsdb/obj_buffersize parameter, leverage the RSADMIN parameter RSR_HIER_THRESHOLD_EXPORTDB for database buffering of large hierarchies, and optionally suppress unassigned nodes to reduce hierarchy size. Detailed node count can be determined via transaction RSH1 and needs consideration for buffer size adjustments to minimize swap occurrences and ensure memory allocation efficiency.

Key words :
