Summary :
This SAP Note discusses issues incurred when settling from a subordinate Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) element to a superior one, with the receiver's budget being exhausted, resulting in warning or error messages like BP603 or BP604. The cause is tied to the activation of availability control for the project and existing budget allocations. The problem compounds when internal settlements lead to budget constraints due to these predefined allocations. SAP recommends avoiding availability control during settlement by using exempt cost elements defined in the IMG (Transaction OPTK), or by adjusting the budget manually using specified budget transactions before settlement. No changes to this system behavior or conceptual approach are currently planned by SAP.
