SAP Note 15291 - SysLog daemons terminate immediately

Component : SAP Syslog -

Solution : https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/15291 (SAP Service marketplace login required)

Summary :
In English: SysLog daemons terminate abruptly, notably 'rslgcoll' and 'rslgsend'. Diagnosis involves checking "stderr" files in the work directory via UNIX 'more' or transaction ST11; the termination reason appears at the line's end. Exit codes provide clues: 0 (I become a daemon), 1 (Assertion failed, format errors, etc.), and 2 (other daemon alive, PID file issues). For exit codes 1/2, if "stderr" is inadequate, restart the daemon in logging mode by adding "-v" to the start command. For exit code 2, inspect "rslgcpid" and "rslgspid" files for process numbers. Solutions include adding "-F" for exit code 0, reading error messages for exit code 1, and deleting or waiting for PID files for exit code 2.
