SAP Note 12550 - Problems with remotely connected printers (WAN)

Component : Spool System -

Solution : https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/12550 (SAP Service marketplace login required)

Summary :
The print output from remotely connected printers, accessed via method 'U' or 'S', can intermittently terminate, especially over slow connections like 9,600 baud. This issue does not concern printers controlled by host spooler using method 'L'. Timeouts during data transfer are the primary cause, with a minimum throughput requirement of 1 kbyte per minute for LPD connections. Solutions include upgrading to a faster network, rerouting data through host spoolers (HP-UX, AIX, SOLARIS, etc.), using SAPSprint with a reduced s_packet_size, or adjusting the "rspo/tcp/timeout/read" parameter to increase packet time beyond 300 seconds as of SAP Release 2.2B/2.1H.

Key words :
host spooler supports remote printers, rspo/tcp/timeout/read, remotely connected printers, access method 'u', access method  'l', terms wan reason, prerequisites timeouts occur, packet size smaller, faster network connection, host spooler -
