Summary :
This SAP Note clarifies the requirements for RFC gateway configuration in the System Landscape Directory (SLD). For installations up to Release 7.0, it is necessary to install an additional RFC gateway for AS Java. Post Release 7.1, an RFC gateway comes pre-installed within AS Java. The configuration is generally automated, involving default services identified by the instance number. Manual configuration through SLD UI is possible by specifying GatewayHost and GatewayService. Dual-stack systems automatically use the RFC gateway from the ABAP stack, eliminating the need for additional installations in these setups.
