SAP Note 1166242 - 10g: "enq: HW contention" waits for LOB Inserts in ASSM TBS

Component : Oracle -

Solution : https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1166242 (SAP Service marketplace login required)

Summary :
Users encounter long wait events labeled "enq: HW contents" during LOB segment inserts when both the table and the LOB segments reside in an ASSM tablespace. This issue, identified by Oracle bug 6376915, affects versions 9.2.0.8 through 11.2.0.x. Post upgrade to 10.2.0.4 and subsequent SAP Bundle Patch installation, these wait phases can reoccur. The resolution involves applying the Oracle patch set 10.2.0.4 and setting event 44951, which controls the preallocation of LOB chunks to minimize wait times. For earlier versions, a backport may be requested. Additionally, changing LOB storage from RETENTION to PCTVERSION provides a temporary fix.
