SAP Note 10609 - SAPDBA: "not enough contiguous space to reorganize"

Component : Database Administration with Oracle -

Solution : https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/10609 (SAP Service marketplace login required)

Summary :
SAPDBA reports space issues ("not enough contiguous space") during the reorganization of tablespaces or individual tables/indexes. This occurs more frequently with tablespaces lacking data files. The reorganization requires grouping tables and indexes in an INITIAL extent, demanding more contiguous space. High fragmentation or the presence of small data files in the tablespaces complicates this. Manual increases to INITIAL parameters exacerbate space shortages. Pre-version 3.0 disruptions stem from objects reorganized alphabetically. Post-version 3.0A, objects follow INITIAL sequence, mitigating but not entirely resolving the issue. New data files created during reorganization face similar fragmentation issues.

Key words :
sapdbasapdba reports space problems, additional key words, maximum file size, change storage manually, sapdba -> main menu ->, reduce object size, 0a onwards objects, small data files, initial values set, large data files
