SAP Note 1038151 - Legacy files in LSMW: BOM for UTF-8 not possible

Component : Legacy System Migration Workbench -

Solution : https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1038151 (SAP Service marketplace login required)

Summary :
When using LSMW on SAP application server to process Unicode UTF-8 files with a byte order mark (BOM), the BOM incorrectly becomes part of the data, leading to errors in the initial data record. Application servers employ code page 4110 for these files, which ideally do not need a BOM. The issue, not previously addressed, occurs if the file contains a BOM, particularly when sourced externally in binary form. Resolution entails applying correction instructions provided under SAP Note 788449. Required Support Package levels are 50 for Basis 620 and 12 for Basis 640, which must be implemented through Note Assistant or a Support Package import.

Key words :
byte order mark, support package level 50, support package level 12, relevant support package, incorrect data occur, application server  works, unicode utf-8 file, application server, unicode utf-8, legacy data
