SAP Message WL844 - Work item &: User & cannot reserve the work item

Diagnosis
The selected work item cannot be reserved by the specified user.
This can have the following reasons:

  • The task associated with the work item is not contained in the active
  • plan version.
    • The specified work item was not found (unknown work item ID).

    • The specified user is not a possible agent for the task underlying the
    • work item.
      • An inconsistency was found in the organizational model which does not
      • allow an evaluation to be performed.
        • The specified user has been explicitly excluded from processing this
        • step in the workflow definition.
          • The work item has already been reserved by another user.

          • The work item has an invalid status (for the selected action).

          • The task assignment has been changed or the indicator
          • General task has been setvery recently.

            System Response
            The action was terminated and the work item remains unchanged.

            Procedure
            Check the possible causes of the error. You can do the following:

            • Correct the current plan version.

            • Check the work item ID.

            • Assign the user organizationally to the underlying task.

            • Check its modeling in the organizational model.

            • Change the workflow definition so that the specified user is no longer
            • explicitly excluded from processing this step.
              • Ask the user who reserved the work item to either replace the work item
              • or forward it to the user displayed.
                • Correct the status of the work item using one of the administration
                • functions or select a valid action.
                  • In the Business Workplace choose Workplace -> Workflow settings ->
                  • Refresh organizational environment.
