Application Assist Processor (AAP)
This is a processor with a number of functions disabled (interrupthandling, some instructions) such that no full operating system can beexecuted on the processor. However, z/OS can detect the presence of AAPprocessors and will use them to execute Java code (and possibly othersimilar code in the future).
