Diagnosis
For certain format conversions, device types arerequired. There are two main scenarios here:
Converting SAPscript / Smart Forms documents to PDF or TXT
All other conversions that require a device type.
In the first case, essentially only the character set belonging to thedevice type is relevant. For the second, the conversion is the same asfor printing, meaning that all other information belonging to the devicetype is relavant, particularly the respective driver. For this reason,these conversions are checked for whether the target format and driverare compatible.
In this instance this was not the case:
Target format &V1& and device type &V2& are not compatible.

Procedure
Specify a suitable device type.
