Diagnosis
The item category is not defined in every material. If an allocationtable type is maintained in Customizing for thePromotion type, this allocation table type iscopied automatically. Otherwise, the allocation table type can bemaintained in the promotion basic data.
The appropriate standard item category is determined from theAllocation table type which you can maintainin allocation table Customizing. This value is then copied as thedefault value in the promotion items. If the item category is notmaintained, the system cannot determine the source of supply.

Procedure
Maintain the item category in the promotion logistics control at itemlevel.
