Purpose
Using this function, you can copy material master records to create newmaterial master records or to change existing ones. In addition to thebasic material data, you can also copy additional master data, such aspurchasing info records, purchasing and sales conditions, bills ofmaterial, and replenishment data.

Features

• If you want to create a new material master record, enter the number of
the source material. In the Target Material group box, you can makedifferent entries from the source material for material group, materialtype, material category and article hierarchy. You can enter a materialnumber for the new target material that is to be created or you can havethe system issue material numbers for target materials internally.

• If you want to change an existing master record, enter the number of the
source material and the number of the target material to be changed. Thesystem only copies the data segments in the source material that are notyet in the existing target material.

• When creating and when changing material master records, you can define
which data the system copies from the source material. To do so, you canuse the following indicators and filters in the "Define ProcessingVolume" group box:
Segment filters
Using segment filters, you can determine the data segments of thegeneral and additional material data that the system is to copy.
Key filters
If you want to copy the segments of a material that exist more thanonce, you can define the organization levels to be copied using the keyfilter. For example, you can only copy certain distribution chains fromthe source material to the target material.
Variant filters
When you copy data from a generic material to another generic material,you can use the variant filter to define which variants of the sourcematerial the system is to copy.
Alternative variants
When you copy data from one generic material to another genericmaterial, and you are not using a variant filter but set this indicator,the system copies all variants without taking any variances intoaccount.
Plant variances
If you set this indicator, the system copies all site data from thesource material to the target material. If you do not set the indicator,it only copies the material data for the reference plants. It generatesall other plant data on the basis of the reference plant data and thesettings in Customizing for the material master.
The system does not copy planned data or movement data.

• You can define whether the system creates an application log and
displays the progress of the copy process.

• You can display the material master records for source materials and
target materials and after the copy process, you can change the materialmaster record of the material that has just been created.

Activities
On the SAP Easy Access screen, choose Logistics -> Retailing -> MasterData -> Material Data -> Material -> Copy.
