SAP Note 1010237 - Growth of DYNPSOURCE table after Unicode migration

Component : DB Independent Database Interface - Internationalization (I18N)

Solution : https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1010237 (SAP Service marketplace login required)

Summary :
After a Unicode migration, the DYNPSOURCE table exhibits significant increases in required memory space up to 15 times due to ineffective compression in Unicode systems. SAP addressed this issue from Basis Release 7.10 with an enhanced compression algorithm that achieves compression rates comparable to those in non-Unicode systems, limiting the memory increase to a factor of two. The change involves adding a new column to DYNPSOURCE to indicate the compression method used, implemented gradually on the SAP Netweaver Application Server through screen source code modifications. However, pre-migration corrections are unfeasible due to integrated system table restrictions and compatibility challenges.

Key words :
screen source code delivers, sap netweaver application server, compatible support package level, dynpsource table increases significantly, screen source code, memory space requirement, storage space requirement, change occurs gradually, central system tables, improved compression algorithm
